Always check JMA, the Ministry of the Environment and local governments for official warnings, landslide alerts, typhoon information, heatstroke alerts and evacuation notices. Where dangerous heat is forecast, reduce daytime outdoor activity and use cooling at night. Forecast source: The fixed editorial overview was prepared for August 5–7 using representative-city public forecasts checked on August 4 at 10:10 a.m. JST. This page separately requests Open-Meteo daily forecast data in the browser for representative cities in all 47 prefectures, so card values can change whenever the page is loaded and may differ from the fixed editorial snapshot. Check the Japan Meteorological Agency’s official forecasts, warnings and advisories, typhoon information and early warning information, the Ministry of the Environment’s heatstroke alerts, and local-government instructions before acting.

Weather desk context: Wednesday is comparatively settled in Hokkaido and northern Tohoku, while Sendai may see an afternoon shower and Tokyo occasional afternoon rain. The dominant hazard from Tokai through Kyushu is dangerous heat: representative highs include about 36°C in Nagoya, Hiroshima and Fukuoka, 37°C in Osaka and 38°C in Kyoto and Kumamoto. Thursday keeps 37°C-class heat in several western cities, with isolated rain or thunderstorms. Friday remains hot and humid with scattered afternoon thunderstorms possible from Kanto through western Japan. Around Okinawa, wind and rain risk increases Thursday and may become severe Friday, including high waves and transport disruption. Warm nights near 27–30°C are possible in western Japan and Okinawa. Forecast confidence decreases with time, and representative-city figures do not describe an entire prefecture. These values are not official warnings and do not predict where heatstroke alerts will be issued.
