Weather desk context: The July 24 edition covers Friday through Sunday. The sharpest heat signal remains over central and western Japan: the planning snapshot reaches about 40°C in Nagoya and 41°C in Kyoto Friday, with dangerous heat continuing Saturday across Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima. Tokyo remains hot and humid with rain possible Friday and Saturday before a broader thunderstorm risk Sunday. Sendai is much cooler near 24°C but may receive heavy rain Friday afternoon and additional morning rain during the weekend. Niigata also faces repeated rain and thunderstorm chances. Showers and thunderstorms may become localized from central Japan through western and southern cities, including Fukuoka and Naha.
