Always check JMA, the Ministry of the Environment and local governments for official warnings, landslide alerts, typhoon information, heatstroke alerts and evacuation notices. Where temperatures approach 40°C, reduce nonessential outdoor activity and use cooling at night. During sudden heavy rain or thunderstorms, avoid underpasses, swollen rivers, steep slopes and isolated trees. In Okinawa, stay away from exposed coasts during very strong wind and high waves, and check air and sea transport operations.

Forecast source: The fixed editorial overview was prepared for August 6–8 using representative-city forecasts checked on August 5 at 1:04 p.m. JST. This page separately requests Open-Meteo daily forecast data in the browser for representative cities in all 47 prefectures, so card values can change whenever the page is loaded and may differ from the fixed editorial snapshot. Check the Japan Meteorological Agency’s official forecasts, warnings and advisories, typhoon information and early warning information, the Ministry of the Environment’s heatstroke alerts, and local-government instructions before acting.

Weather desk context: Thursday is very warm in Hokkaido and cloudy in Sendai, while Tokyo may see spotty morning showers before a humid 34°C afternoon. The most dangerous heat extends from Hokuriku through western Japan: representative highs include about 38°C in Niigata, 37°C in Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Kumamoto, and as high as 40°C in Kochi. Friday may bring 40°C to Niigata, 34°C to Tokyo with isolated afternoon thunderstorms, and continued 35–37°C heat across western cities. Saturday eases Sapporo to about 28°C with morning showers, but Tokyo stays near 34°C and much of western Japan remains hot with scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Around Okinawa, winds strengthen Thursday; gusts may exceed 80 km/h Friday with heavy afternoon rain, and very windy conditions with thunderstorms and periods of rain may persist Saturday. Warm nights near 27–28°C are likely in many western and southern cities. Forecast confidence decreases with time, and representative-city figures do not describe an entire prefecture. These values are not official warnings and do not predict where heatstroke alerts will be issued.
